FAQs
Are dogs allowed on the Jet Express?
Yes! The Jet Express is pet-friendly. Your furry friend rides free as long as they’re in a carrier or on a leash. Just be sure to plan ahead for any pet policies at your destination.
Do I need to book my Jet Express ticket in advance for these events?
We always recommend booking your tickets ahead of time, especially during popular event weekends when ferries can fill up fast. Grab yours online to lock in your spot and skip the line!
Are there parking options at Port Clinton or Sandusky?
Yes! In Port Clinton, parking is available directly across from the dock at $18/day (cash or card), with a long-term option just down the street for $11/day (cash only). There’s also a free public parking garage nearby at 158 W. Market St.
Is the Jet Express wheelchair accessible?
Absolutely, the Jet Express is completely handicap accessible. If you need any special assistance, just let the team know when planning your trip and they’ll make sure everything is taken care of.
How early should I arrive to catch the ferry?
We recommend arriving at least 20–30 minutes before your scheduled departure, and a little earlier during busy event weekends. It gives you time to park, get settled and board without any rush—and if you have a few extra minutes, grab a drink at Island Port, our riverfront bar right at the Port Clinton dock!
What should I bring to the event?
It depends on the event, but a few general tips: sunscreen is always a good idea on the island, and comfortable walking shoes are a must. For outdoor events, a light layer for the evening, a reusable water bottle and some cash for vendors and raffles will serve you well. Check the specific event details for anything extra!
Are golf carts or transportation available on the island?
Yes! Golf cart and bike rentals are available right at the dock and at several other spots around both Put-in-Bay and Kelleys Island. It’s the best way to get around and explore at your own pace.
Where should I stay at Put-in-Bay?
Put-in-Bay has a great range of lodging options, from resorts to cozy rentals. Check out visitputinbay.com or shoresandislands.com for a full list, and be sure to book early. Rooms go quickly, especially during event weekends!
Where should I stay at Kelley’s Island?
For Kelleys Island lodging options, head to kelleysislandchamber.com for everything you need to plan your stay.
Can I bring my bike on the Jet Express?
Bikes are welcome on the Jet Express for a small additional fee. A great option if you prefer to bring your own wheels to explore the island.
Is there a bag or cooler policy on the Jet Express?
Coolers, food and beverages are all welcome on board! Just keep in mind that alcohol consumption, smoking and vaping are not permitted on the ferry.
Are there discounts for groups or families?
Groups of 15 or more qualify for special discounted rates! For more information or to book a group trip, call our office at 419-732-2800.
Will the ferry still run during bad weather?
The Jet Express operates in most weather conditions, but safety always comes first. If severe weather impacts service, the team will communicate updates. We recommend checking the Jet Express website or calling 800-245-1538 if you have concerns about your travel day.
