Memorial Day weekend is one of the most anticipated times to visit Put-in-Bay. As the summer season begins, the island comes alive with returning entertainers, lively crowds and a full schedule of events throughout the weekend. From classic car parades to live music, there’s plenty happening to kick off the start of summer on South Bass Island.
At the heart of the weekend is a meaningful Memorial Day ceremony held at the plaza of Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial. Visitors gather to honor those who served through a moving tribute that includes the Wreath of Remembrance, a bagpipe rendition of Taps and a procession led by the American Legion. It’s a special opportunity to pause, reflect and remember while experiencing one of the island’s most important traditions.
