HISTORIC WEEKEND

SEPTEMBER 12-13

Put-in-Bay has always been more than just a great island getaway; it’s a place where American history was made. Historic Weekend is a full celebration of that legacy, featuring War of 1812 reenactments, live entertainment and a military encampment set up right at Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial.

It all traces back to September 1813, when Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry commanded nine U.S. Navy vessels to a decisive victory over the British fleet on Lake Erie—a turning point that helped shift the entire course of the war. Seeing it all play out on the very ground where it happened is something pretty special.

Accessible via the Jet Express from Port Clinton or Sandusky.
